About this Stone
This serene yet striking cascade is tucked near the village of Toftir on Eysturoy, where the name simply means “waterfall” in Faroese. Unlike the towering sea cliffs that make other Faroese waterfalls so dramatic, this spot charms with its gentle flow and accessible location, making it a favorite for quiet breaks in nature. The stream feeding the falls is part of Lake Toftir’s outflow, which eventually meets the sea, and the area is often visited by locals enjoying peaceful walks. Despite its modest size compared to giants elsewhere in the islands, it carries its own quiet magic, especially when the light catches the water in the late afternoon.
