About this Stone
Right along the shores of this lakeside spot, some of the most iconic views unfold over the water—pastel houses, a church spire, and mountains rising straight from the water. Despite its peaceful feel today, the area is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in Europe, thanks to rich salt deposits that date back over 7,000 years and gave the region its wealth and importance.
