About this Stone
One of the most recognizable landmarks in the old town, this 16th-century Ottoman bridge spans the Lumbardhi River and stands as a symbol of the city’s layered history. Originally built over 400 years ago, it suffered severe damage during the 1979 floods but was faithfully reconstructed in the same traditional style, preserving its historic character. The bridge serves as a vital connection between different quarters of the old town and offers atmospheric views of the river flowing through the city. Wandering underneath reveals the intricate traditional stonework—a quiet, contemplative space where the sound of water echoes off ancient walls.
