About this Stone
This ancient site was once one of the legendary Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built in the 4th century BC as a grand tomb for Mausolus, the Persian satrap of Caria. Earthquakes eventually reduced it to ruins, yet its influence on monumental tomb architecture remains visible even today—the word “mausoleum” itself comes directly from this wonder. Among the scattered remnants of its past glory lies another small secret, nestled within the trunks of a nearby tree, waiting patiently to be discovered.
