About this Stone
This grand 17th-century building symbolizes Sweden’s aristocratic heritage, having served as a chamber in the Riksdag of the Estates for centuries. Today it functions as a corporation maintaining the records and interests of the Swedish nobility. The architecture blends late Renaissance and French classicism, with an impressive interior housing a collection of 2,326 coats of arms, each representing a noble family. The building’s construction began under French architect Simon de la Vallée, and after his death in 1642, was completed by his son Jean de la Vallée and other architects. In front of the structure, a penguin stone has found its home near an ornamental statue.
