About this Stone
This striking example of 18th-century Persian architecture stands as the only active mosque in the country today. Built in 1766 during Persian rule, it features a large central dome and a peaceful inner courtyard surrounded by ornate arcades and gardens. The building now serves as both a place of worship and a cultural center, its functioning restored in the 1990s with support from Iran—a rare symbol of Islamic heritage in a predominantly Christian nation.
