About this Stone
In the village on Kalsoy Island, you’ll find one of the Faroe Islands’ most captivating landmarks: a bronze statue gazing out over the wild North Atlantic. The figure recalls a local legend centuries old—a seal who shed her skin to become human but was forced back into the sea after a tragic betrayal. The statue was unveiled in 2014 to commemorate this haunting tale, and it has since become one of the most photographed spots in the archipelago. The rugged coastal setting, with its dramatic cliffs and windswept character, adds to the mythic atmosphere of the place.
