About this Stone
One of Japan’s most famous and historically significant landmarks, this castle was originally built in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a powerful daimyo during the Sengoku period. It played a crucial role in the unification of Japan during the late 16th century. Following Hideyoshi’s death, the castle became the center of a power struggle and was attacked during the Siege of Osaka (1614-1615) led by Tokugawa Ieyasu, marking the end of the Toyotomi clan. Today, a beautiful park surrounds the castle, offering visitors a blend of history and natural beauty. The penguin stone was left nearby with a view of the castle, placed where a long queue prevented access to the interior.
