About this Stone
This trail in the Lofoten Islands ranks among Norway’s most dramatic hikes, rising 541 meters with steep, rocky terrain that often demands scrambling and light climbing skills. The ascent is formidable—steep enough that even experienced hikers may reconsider partway up—but the reward is extraordinary. From the area around Heiavatnet, a small alpine lake, panoramic views stretch across the fjords toward Henningsvær and beyond. On clear days, the summit offers some of the finest vistas in all of Lofoten; even the mid-way point delivers views worth any photographer’s effort. The stone was hidden here among the rocks, a small token left behind during an adventure that tested the limits between hiking and climbing.
