About this Stone
A striking natural formation in the scenic Gaderská dolina (Gader Valley) in central Slovakia, near the village of Blatnica, within the Greater Fatra Mountains. This limestone cave sits at an elevation of around 830 meters and is known for its impressive entrance, measuring approximately 30 meters wide and 5 meters high. Although not open to the general public, it holds significant geological and paleontological value. Archaeological findings suggest prehistoric humans once used it, and fossil remains of cave bears have been discovered inside. Surrounded by lush forests and rugged cliffs, it’s a popular hiking destination and a highlight of the Gader Valley’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
