About this Stone
This intimate ancient theater dates to the 2nd century AD and once hosted musical performances, poetry readings, and community gatherings that shaped the cultural life of Roman Cyprus. Unlike larger amphitheaters, its smaller size created superior acoustics and fostered a genuine connection between performers and audience members. The site itself sits within an archaeological park, preserving centuries of history. A distinctive feature draws visitors upward: a small cave positioned just above the theater invites exploration. The cave’s tight entrance requires a squat to enter, but inside this hidden alcove lies a unique modern addition to the ancient space—a playful counterpoint to the ruins surrounding it.
