About this Stone
The stone walls here are part of the defensive system around Fort Lovrijenac and the wider Dubrovnik fortifications, much of which was developed between the 11th and 17th centuries to protect the Republic of Ragusa from naval invasions. This makes it one of the strongest coastal defense networks in the Adriatic. The sturdy stone construction offers plenty of character and history, with crevices and weathered surfaces that speak to centuries of standing watch over the sea.
