About this Stone
This alpine lake sits at 1,567 meters on a scenic plateau in Styria, covering approximately 6.2 hectares and ranking as the second-largest of six mountain lakes in the area. Stretching roughly 440 meters in length and up to 190 meters wide, it nestles between two peaks and offers a well-maintained trail that circles the shore with spectacular views. In summer, the landscape unfolds in full Alpine glory—meadows, rock formations, and clear water reflecting the surrounding mountains. Winter transforms the surface into a frozen expanse. The combination of accessible trail, natural rock features, and pristine mountain setting makes this a rewarding destination whether you’re seeking a leisurely walk or a place to pause and absorb the quiet grandeur of high-altitude landscape.
