About this Stone
This charming suspension footbridge spans the Limmat River, connecting a historic monastery island with the surrounding area. Built in 1863 to serve mill workers, it stands as one of Switzerland’s oldest wire-cable suspension bridges, remarkable for retaining its original cables even after a careful 1982 renovation. The bridge earned its local nickname “Wackelibrugg” — or “Wobble Bridge” — honestly: it sways noticeably underfoot, especially when joggers or groups cross together, creating a uniquely nostalgic and slightly thrilling experience that has delighted and unnerved visitors for over 160 years.
