About this Stone
This peaceful terrace garden offers one of the best panoramic views in town, overlooking the fairytale-like historic center with stunning sights of the castle, the Church of St. Vitus, and the winding Vltava River. Originally established around 1662 as a decorative garden for the Jesuit seminary known as Seminarium Sancti Josephi, it has long served as a contemplative space connected to education and reflection. The garden spans approximately 65 by 45 meters, making it an intimate yet striking spot for relaxation and photography. An interesting fact: the northern retaining wall of the terrace dates back to 1657, meaning this spot has been part of the town’s cultural landscape for over three centuries. Open year-round and dotted with benches, it’s an ideal place to pause and take in the magic of the surroundings—especially at sunrise or sunset.
