About this Stone
Set on a small island off the coast, this shrine feels like stepping into a subtropical dream. Surrounded by palm trees and the striking rock formations known as the Devil’s Washboard, the bright vermilion structure is dedicated to deities of marriage and good relationships. The island itself is considered so sacred that until the Edo period, only priests were allowed to set foot on it. Today, you can cross on a simple pedestrian bridge to explore the peaceful pathways, prayer plaques, and ocean views that make this spot one of natural and spiritual significance.
