About this Stone
Right next to the spa house Choč, this remarkable rock formation is a natural monument shaped by mineral deposits from calcium-rich water. Over centuries, as plant matter became trapped and slowly dissolved, it left behind tiny holes and pockets that give the travertine its distinctive texture. Once quarried for construction material, the area has been protected as a natural heritage site since 1975. The penguin stone rests here now, tucked among the ancient travertine layers and blending seamlessly into this quietly magical place.
