About this Stone
Sitting high in the High Tatras at around 1,350 meters above sea level, this glacial lake is surrounded by spruce forests, mountain air, and views that change with every step around the shore. The water is dark, deep, and mirror calm on quiet days, reflecting the peaks like a perfectly polished postcard. In winter, the lake freezes solid, and the area turns into a classic alpine playground. Summer brings hikers, gentle lakeside walks, and that unmistakable feeling of being properly up in the mountains. Despite its popularity, it still feels peaceful, especially early in the morning or as the light softens toward evening.
