About this Stone
This historic fortress once served as a lookout point protecting the region from invaders. Today, it offers one of the most stunning panoramic views over the Kvarner Bay, stretching across Rijeka, Opatija, and all the way to the islands in the Adriatic. More than just a military relic, the spot is a beloved local gathering place for open-air events, especially during the Kastav Cultural Summer festival. The penguin stone here was tucked inside a tree trunk at a viewpoint overlooking the city—a playful reminder that even history can have a penguin twist.
