About this Stone
This temple is a serene oasis nestled among the city’s modern skyscrapers. Founded in the 8th century, it offers a beautiful glimpse into Korea’s Buddhist heritage, with colorful lanterns, ancient halls, and serene courtyards. One of the most striking sights is the massive Maitreya Buddha statue, which stands 23 meters tall and watches over the city. The temple was once the main sanctuary of Korean Buddhism during the Joseon era, making it a place of deep historical and spiritual significance amid the urban landscape.
