About this Stone
Built in 1828, this hall within the Secret Garden of Changdeokgung Palace served as a preserved residence for royal family gatherings, performances, and celebrations. It stands as one of the rare examples of a Joseon-era noble home designed within a palace complex, blending elegance with simplicity in true Confucian style. The hall was historically used for traditional court dances and music, and its outdoor stage is considered one of the earliest purpose-built performance spaces in Korea. Today, the space feels peaceful and almost untouched by time, a quiet refuge within one of Seoul’s most significant cultural landmarks.
