About this Stone
This former anti-aircraft missile base sits elevated above the city, offering sweeping views across the Danube Valley. Built during the Cold War as part of Czechoslovakia’s air defense network, it once housed Soviet S-125 Neva missile systems in a strategically vital position. Decades later, the military purpose has faded. Crumbling concrete structures, hidden bunkers, and forest trails now create a haunting blend of history and nature reclaiming what was once strictly guarded territory. The atmosphere feels suspended between two eras—soldiers have given way to hikers and explorers drawn by the surreal landscape and its Cold War legacy.
