About this Stone
This iconic bridge is the heart of Mostar, originally built in the 16th century during the Ottoman era. Its elegant single arch spans the Neretva River in a graceful curve that has made it one of the most recognizable structures in the region. Destroyed during the war in the 1990s, it was painstakingly rebuilt using traditional techniques and now stands as a UNESCO-listed symbol of resilience and cultural connection. Just below the bridge, the river creates a small waterfall effect over the rocks, adding to the atmospheric quality of the spot. The combination of centuries-old architecture, historical significance, and natural beauty makes this one of the most compelling places to visit in the area.
