About this Stone
This cycling route from Chmeľnica to Stará Ľubovňa is one of northern Slovakia’s newest and most pleasant paths for riders of all levels. Officially opened in 2021, the smooth asphalt trail follows the Poprad River valley, connecting small villages with the historic town of Stará Ľubovňa. The route is family-friendly and mostly flat, offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills and meadows of the Spiš region. Along the way, you’ll pass quiet countryside scenes, grazing horses, and wooden bridges that give the ride a peaceful, unhurried feel. About halfway through, a simple wooden bench sits perfectly placed for a break to enjoy the fresh air and mountain views—and if you look closely nearby, inside a tree trunk close to the bench, there’s a small secret waiting to be discovered.
