Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, is buried here, and the cathedral's world-renowned choir—established in 1432—continues to perform daily during school term, maintaining a musical tradition stretching back nearly six centuries. During the sixteenth century, the building also served as a courthouse, adding another layer to its complex past.
