One of Bangkok's most iconic landmarks, this temple is renowned for its stunning Khmer-style spire, or prang, which rises over 70 meters high and is intricately adorned with colorful porcelain and seashells that glisten under sunlight. The design symbolizes Mount Meru, the center of the universe in Buddhist cosmology. Construction began during the Ayutthaya period, but the temple was extensively renovated and given its current grandeur during the reign of King Rama II in the early 19th century. Situated along the Chao Phraya River, it is equally breathtaking at sunset, when its reflection dances on the river's surface.
