This historic hilltop was once home to a fortified citadel built in the 11th century, a crucial military stronghold for the Counts of Provence and later the House of Savoy. The fortress was dismantled in 1706 on the orders of King Louis XIV following the French capture of Nice during the War of the Spanish Succession. Today it stands as one of the finest vantage points on the French Riviera, offering sweeping panoramic views across the city, the Bay of Angels, and the Mediterranean Sea. The area is rich with discovery and exploration, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore—making it an ideal spot for a penguin stone hunt. This one has been tucked carefully between rocks near a bench, nestled behind a regular stone along the wall for a bit of extra challenge.
