Vysoko nad mestom Rodos nás Akropola v Rodose prenesie späť do starovekého mesta Rodos, ktoré bolo založené v roku 408 pred n. l. Na rozdiel od mnohých gréckych akropol táto nebola silne opevnená a namiesto toho sa rozvíjala ako priestor plný chrámov, verejných budov a miest na šport i zábavu. Dnes tu stále uvidíš pozostatky Apolónovho chrámu, starovekého štadióna a malého Odeónu, ktoré sa týčia na kopci Monte Smith s výhľadom na mesto a more. A niekde uprostred celej tej starovekej histórie teraz čaká na objavenie niečo o čosi modernejšie – ukrýva sa tu aj tučniakový kameň.

High above Rhodes Town, the Acropolis of Rhodes takes us back to the ancient city of Rhodes, which was founded in 408 BC. Unlike many Greek acropolises, this one wasn’t heavily fortified and instead developed as a space filled with temples, public buildings and places for sport and entertainment. Today, you can still see remains of the Temple of Apollo, the ancient stadium and the small Odeon, all sitting on Monte Smith hill overlooking the city and sea. And somewhere among all that ancient history, there is now something slightly more modern waiting to be discovered, a penguin stone is hidden here too.
