When these walls were constructed, entire neighborhoods, churches, and even cemeteries had to be demolished to make space for the massive defensive system, completely reshaping the city's landscape. Today, the gate welcomes visitors with sweeping views and a sense of quiet history, layered now with a playful modern secret tucked nearby—a small reminder that history and whimsy can coexist among centuries-old stone.
