#425 Ytri Tunga Beach
Ytri Tunga Beach, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Iceland
About this stone
This beach on Iceland's Snæfellsnes Peninsula is renowned for its golden sands and frequent seal sightings, offering a softer, more tranquil coastal experience than the stark black volcanic beaches often associated with Iceland. The shallow waters and abundance of seaweed create a prime habitat for seals, who regularly bask on the rocks just offshore, providing exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. What makes it particularly special is that it's one of the best places in Iceland to reliably spot seals without needing to take a boat tour, making it an accessible and rewarding destination for nature enthusiasts.
