#61 Průhonice Park

Průhonice Park, Prague, Czech Republic

About this stone

This sprawling 250-hectare park near Prague stands as one of the largest green spaces in the country and a masterpiece of landscape design. Established in 1885 by Count Arnošt Emanuel Silva-Tarouca, who drew inspiration from English garden traditions, the grounds showcase an extraordinary botanical collection with over 1,600 species of trees and shrubs from native and exotic origins. The park's significance extends beyond its horticultural richness—in 2010, it earned recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site alongside the accompanying castle, cementing its place among Europe's most important cultural landscapes. Wandering through the castle grounds and into the vast parkland offers a journey through both architectural history and natural beauty, making it a compelling destination for those seeking both contemplation and exploration.
