#641 Peklo

Peklo, Nové Město nad Metují, 🇨🇿 Czechia

About this Stone

Peklo, meaning “Hell” in Czech, is a picturesque nature reserve where the Metuje and Olešenka rivers meet, surrounded by deep forests, rocky slopes, and scenic hiking trails. One of its most recognizable landmarks is Bartoňova útulna, a former mill transformed into a distinctive Art Nouveau-style tourist shelter by famous Czech architect Dušan Jurkovič in the early 20th century. Despite its devilish name, Peklo is a peaceful place for hiking and escaping into nature. The penguin is in the tree next to the Bartoň Shelter.
