This ancient volcano rises majestically above the city, last erupting around 350 million years ago, and now forms the heart of a wild and rugged park just a short walk from the Royal Mile. Standing at 251 meters high, the spot commands breathtaking views across the city and beyond. Despite its dramatic name, there is no clear connection to King Arthur, though legends often link the site to his mythical court. The slopes hide remnants of an Iron Age fort, hinting at a long and mysterious past stretching back centuries. In spring and summer, vibrant wildflowers blanket the slopes, adding bursts of color to the dramatic Scottish scenery. The climb is steep and not an easy ascent, but the panoramic views from the summit make it worthwhile.
