About this stone

Dating back to the 13th century, this fortress emerged during an era of feudal strongholds and medieval defense networks. Originally built as a defensive structure, it played a vital role in protecting the region during turbulent times. The castle's architecture tells the story of centuries of transformation, with each period leaving its mark through different styles and structural additions. The 16th century brought particular prominence when the Knights of the Teutonic Order took ownership—the same chivalric order renowned for their role in the Crusades. Their tenure left an unmistakable imprint on the fortifications and Gothic architectural elements that remain visible today. Though modest in scale, the spot rewards a visit with fantastic views and the opportunity to explore layers of medieval history. A local restaurant on site offers hospitality to travelers passing through.
