Vondelpark, Amsterdam, Netherlands

About this stone

With over 10 million visitors a year, this is the most popular and most-visited green space in Amsterdam and in the entire country. The park spans 470,000 square meters and houses endless types of plants and small animals that entertain numerous visitors throughout the seasons. In 1996, it was declared a "state monument" (Rijksmonument in Dutch), a designation that reflects its significant cultural and historical value to the city. The area serves as the city's main green lung, a vital respite from urban life and a natural gathering place that connects neighborhoods. Its tree-lined paths and diverse landscapes make it a compelling destination whether you're seeking quiet contemplation or people-watching, and it's become woven into the fabric of daily life for locals and travelers alike.
