Originally built in the 1660s to protect the city, it was reconstructed in 1848 after an explosion destroyed the earlier structure in 1845. Though designed for military purposes, it saw limited action and primarily served as a symbolic fortification and training ground. Today, the spot offers beautiful views and a sense of historical intrigue—a quiet corner where Stockholm's strategic past is still tangible.
