High above the Città Alta, this medieval fortress rises from ancient stone walls like a quiet guardian, offering sweeping views across terracotta rooftops and, on clear days, all the way to the Alps. Originally built for defensive purposes and later strengthened under Venetian rule, it once played a key strategic role in protecting the region. Today, its romantic ruins and peaceful hilltop setting make it one of the most atmospheric spots in the area. Reaching it by the charming funicular adds to the experience, turning the visit into a small journey through history and nature.
