Standing about 69 meters above the surrounding streets, it was originally known as Huelén Hill before the Spanish claimed it as a strategic lookout in the 16th century. Today, the elegant Castillo Hidalgo is tucked into its terraces, and stone staircases, fountains, and leafy paths wind through the area, making it a lovely retreat from the urban pace. An adventurer passing through the region left a penguin stone hidden here, adding a tiny secret to one of Santiago's most iconic viewpoints.
