About this Stone

Lower Tama Lake is one of the most beautiful volcanic crater lakes in Tongariro National Park. It sits on the Tama Saddle between Mount Ruapehu and Mount Ngāuruhoe at about 1,200 m above sea level. The lake was formed by an explosive volcanic eruption thousands of years ago and has no visible inlet or outlet streams.
